DONATE STOCKS, BONDS AND ITEMS
Did
you know the IRS may allow you to donate an item to Bat
World that has appreciated in value? Better yet, did you
know that you can write this off as a tax deductible
donation at the current appreciated market value, rather
than selling it first and paying taxes before donating
what’s left? Examples of this could be land parcels,
stocks, bonds, mutual funds or a even a piece of jewelry
or art that was bought at a much lower value in the past
and is now worth a higher value. When you donate this to
a qualified non-profit organization such as Bat World
Sanctuary you may receive a tax deduction at the current
market value. If you had sold it first and paid capital
gains taxes, you might have only a portion available to
donate. Another alternative is to make a nonprofit
organization the beneficiary of an older insurance
policy that no longer serves the purposes for which it
